The crew are there to make your vacation as memorable and enjoyable as possible. The crew consists of Captain, Chef, Hostess, Chief Engineer and deck hand. They are professional full-time crew who are flexible and will adapt to suit your requirements.  The crew are renowned for being unobtrusive yet fully at your disposal when required.  Knowing how special this vacation is to our clients, they are at the clients service to ensure every conceivable wish is met so that those who have enjoyed the delights of Clasship 1 will want to return again & again!

Captain Ted Vander Wiede Ted is a native of New Jersey in the USA and has had a love affair with the sea as long as he can remember. He holds a USCG Master license and is also a certified American Sailing Association Sailing instructor. A true asset to your sailing holiday, Ted can also help you with the several water toys we have on board; sailing on the Laser Pico, Diving and snorkeling (Certified PADI diver), and windsurfing (in 1990 IMCO one-design one of the US East Coast top five sailors). He has sailed extensively in the Caribbean in the last few years sailing charters and teaching sailing for Barefoot Yachts in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. He also knows the BVI’s like the back of his hand. It is worth noting Ted came to Clasship having an enviable reputation for his remarkable record of repeat bookings from captaining his own charter yacht. Ted is also an entertaining multi-instrumental (Guitar, Fiddle, Sax and Piano) musician who loves to lead a sing-along as well as jam with other musicians. He is a family man with two grown children and four grand-daughters; so he knows and loves children. Before sailing full time, Ted worked in Product Development Global Marketing for the Medical device industry (Anesthesia Monitoring) and has a wealth of electronic and technical knowledge to keep Clasship in top running condition. He speaks basic Spanish as well.

Chef Ross Lee Tyre our English chef is possibly Clasship 1’s greatest asset coming with a background working for many award winning, world class hotels and restaurants including a Michelin star hotel as Senior-sous chef. Ross is English and has been a top chef for 14 years and is personally a multi gold award winner in his profession including Wessex Chef of The Year Winner 2003 (Gold) and Bath Chef of The Year Winner 2007 (Gold). It is rare to find such a chef on a charter yacht with such fine credentials and abilities. His previous employers include Midsummer house - 5 AA Rosettes and 2 Michelin Stars, who all gave quite simply stunning references including from Martin Blunos a (Consultant/Celebrity Chef). Ross will be only too delighted to discuss with you what he can prepare for you during your time onboard Clasship 1. Ross speaks basic Spanish.

Hostess Justyna grew up in the Kalisz, Poland; she speaks Polish, English and Russian. She trained to be a beautician in one of the top salons in Poland for 4 years. She then moved to Jersey in order to learn English where she enjoyed working in hospitality and service industry. Justyna worked in The Grand, Samares Manor and the Havana all in Jersey; an Island famous for catering to the many super rich tax exiles. She is a fully trained beauty therapist and her spa won Best UK spa for 2009 and 2010. She is certified ESPA therapist and Cosmetology technician Justyna was a first class and highly experienced chambermaid, waitress and barmaid in 5 star hotels before becoming our first rate hostess, once again with impeccable references! She will be offering her beauty services including massages on our massage table which are all fully inclusive when you charter Clasship 1. Of all Justyna’s qualities; her love of children is perhaps her finest attribute!

Deck Hand / Engineer Dwayne is our longest serving crew member, he comes from the vacation Island of Tobago having formerly been a waiter and bar tender there. Whilst in Tobago Dwayne worked as a sound engineer for the radio station for two years, hence his knowledge and love of almost all types of music. If it’s a party you want one night, Dwayne is your man. Dwayne has the gift of fixing anything and everything on Clasship with no fuss at all, nothing is too much trouble for Dwayne. Sailing and boats is however Dwayne’s passion. He loves all things to do with the sea; he was born to be on boats. Dwayne has proved to be universally liked by our guests, from attending to adults needs to spending time with kids who just love him. Like Ted our Captain; Dwayne will be only too happy to teach you how to sail on our Laser PICO sailing dingy, or help you with any other water sports.
